Project Scope

Graycor was the general contractor working with Simon on the major interior renovation of Woodfield Mall, one of the nation’s largest malls. The modernization project gave the mall a fresh new look and feel.

The project provides a “facelift” of the Grand Court with new glass railings and porcelain flooring; new vertical transportation to enhance navigation, including two custom-made glass feature elevators, two escalators and replacement of two existing elevators; a luxury Guest Services center; upper level deck expansions; upgraded plush seating and lounge areas; improved directional signage; addition of carpet to the entire upper level; and expanded seating and event space in anchor store courts.

Near the renovation’s completion, Graycor was asked to make additional changes to the center court layout to accommodate a new tenant, Chicago staple Garrett’s Popocorn. The changes involved additional foundations, retaining walls, changes to new glass railings, and additional ceramic tile work. Graycor was able to beat its own aggressive schedule to deliver the changes in just three weeks.
