Project Scope

For retail property developer Westfield Group, Graycor completed a redevelopment of Westfield Southlake, a 1.28 million-square-foot super-regional mall in Hobart, Ind. Work at Westfield Southlake included demolition of a restaurant and theatre, existing mall entrance and 36,000 square feet of tenant space inside the mall. In place of the demolished buildings and tenant space, the team constructed a new Kerasotes ShowPlace theatre; a two-tenant building shell to house Chipotle and Potbelly restaurants; a new 8,500-square-foot link between one of the mall entrances and the newly constructed Dick’s Sporting Goods store; and a new mall entrance, entry façade and interior build-out for Border’s bookstore. All major site signage, parking and landscaping were included in the scope of work.

Challenges on the project included keeping the mall entrance open while major utilities in front of the entrance were relocated. Graycor also phased the work to allow for foot-traffic to be maintained. Services also were provided to aid in delivery of materials to an adjacent truck dock during the rerouting of utilities.
