Graycor was selected to complete the three-acre site work at Sandy Plains Village in Roswell, Georgia to accommodate the addition of a theatre to the shopping center. Site work included a new retention pond, landscaping, fencing, utilities, paving and a new pad.
Creating the new pad required the demolition of 60,000 square feet of attached vacant retail space that was adjacent to a restaurant occupied tenant space. Structural connections to the restaurant were surgically removed, avoiding loss of both property and loss of business for the restaurant. Public safety was a high priority throughout the project, and especially during demolition.
During the course of the project the Atlanta area experienced above normal rainfall, interrupting the civil work both during rainstorms, and subsequently the drying time required after rains before resuming work. Using imported materials, Graycor was able to turn over the certified building pad only two days later than expected despite the frequent weather related delays.
The project was divided into two phases. This first phase of building demolition and sitework will be followed by Phase II in which the facade wasupgraded throughout Sandy Plains Village.
