Project Scope
Graycor Construction was the general contractor for the Oakbrook Center Redevelopment project, which maximized space and brought enhanced amenities to the shopping center. Project highlights include a new 12-screen AMC theatre; a casual dining element branded The District; a refreshed corridor that improves sight lines to Nordstrom, the corridor’s anchor retailer, as well as several in-line tenants; and a new three-level parking garage.
The 50,000-square-foot, 12-screen AMC theatre features the latest in technology, including IMAX and Dolby Digital cinemas, which offer enhanced sound, larger screens and a laser projection system. The theatre provides moviegoers the full AMC experience, including plush power recliners, online ticketing and reserved seating, and a full bar including craft beer, wine and cocktails.
The District, a 14,000-square-foot dining hall located just outside the theatre’s entrance, provides mall patrons and local office clientele a place to grab a quick bite before a movie, mid-shopping spree, or for an after work cocktail. Designed with a contemporary industrial aesthetic, The District features exposed steel and black and gray tones to give an urban feel, while white tile is incorporated to mimic the overall appearance of the Oakbrook Center.
A bright, new, three-level parking garage accommodates traffic to the new theatre and dining destinations. The garage includes red and green light cameras to indicate free parking spots, as well as an exterior “speed ramp” that allows drivers direct access from the first to the third level.
