Project Scope
As a maintenance project for U.S. Steel, Graycor performed work on the North Slip Utility Bridge, which measures 135 feet high and 240 feet wide. Reinforcement work over the slip included scaffold and enclosure installations, lead paint removal, structural reinforcement and Globex repairs, and painting a 32-foot bay of the utility bridge. Repairs were also made on seven additional bays in the same manner.
There were no safety-related incidents or injuries. Due to an innovative traveling bridge scaffold system, the project was completed three months ahead of schedule, saving time and expense.
