Project Scope

Graycor installed a Maximum Achievable Control Technology (MACT) scrubber system and all associated ductwork and support steel for the No. 4 Basic Oxygen Furnace (BOF) at ArcelorMittal’s plant.

Project included installation of a pump room, electrical room buildings, a clarifier and scrapper mechanism, and four fans and stacks.

Graycor also performed a year-long installation at the Burns Harbor plant at the No. 1 BOF, which called for erecting a baghouse and installing all associated ductwork and support steel, reinforcing the existing building, and relocating existing piping and electrical interferences. The project required two 1,000-ton cranes to move extremely large ducts and install them into tight clearance areas.

Both projects were completed to meet MACT Standards (i.e., technology-based air emission standards established under Title III of the 1990 Clean Air Act).
