Project Scope
Chicago-based Kerasotes ShowPlace Theatres, LLC chose Graycor to build several new multiplex theatres throughout Illinois and Indiana. The initial projects included completion of a 14-screen theatre in New Lenox, IL, and a 12-screen theatre in Schererville, IN. The theatres feature pre-cast exteriors and interior stadium seating with high-back chairs; wall-to-wall, curved screens; Dolby digital sound systems in each auditorium; state-of-the-art projection systems; and spacious and modern lobbies with open arcades and concession bars.
Graycor also put final touches on Kerasotes ShowPlace 12 located at Westfield Southlake mall in Hobart, Ind. Just several months later, Graycor completed ground-up construction of two new theatres in Cicero and Niles, IL. The Cicero 14-screen theatre located in the Hawthorne Works Shopping Center, is a 56,000-square-foot, free standing theatre with a total seating capacity of 2750. The theatre features stadium-style seating in each auditorium, with stepped seating rows and massive wall-to-wall screens with digital sound systems. In Niles, Graycor constructed a 62,500-square-foot multiplex theatre. The Kerasotes ShowPlace 12 features two expansive auditoriums with seating capacities of more than 450 in each (theatre seats 3,264 in total); three-story-tall movie screens spanning 60 feet; state-of-the-art projection and sound effect systems.
In Chicago, IL Graycor constructed a 14-screen multi-plex movie theatre, ShowPlace Galewood 14. The cinema consists of 14 individual auditoriums, a concessions lobby, restrooms and associated support spaces. A mezzanine level for projection and audio equipment was also incorporated as part of this project. The main structure was built using a combination of pre-cast and conventional steel framing and joists.
The theatres have since been sold to AMC.
