Project Scope

A 1920s raw industrial space in Chicago’s Kinzie Industrial Corridor was transformed into a sleek and modern art gallery – Richard Gray’s second in Chicago. The 5,000-square-foot space at Damen Avenue and Carroll Street involved the restoration of the exposed timber truss system, a new HVAC system, dramatic lighting and new plumbing systems. Close attention was paid to ensure the new floor condition to exacting standards. Additionally, the exterior brick and courtyard was restored. The dramatic southern exposure entrance was created to draw in natural light and to allow for very large art pieces into the building. Significant coordination was required to build finely tuned architectural details with the existing conditions.
