Project Scope

Graycor was the general contractor for the redevelopment of Fayette Mall, a 1.4-million-square-foot super-regional shopping center. The project included the redevelopment of the vacant former Sears building into in-line tenant space, construction of a mall concourse and restrooms, and re-roofing of the entire Sears space.

The project also included exterior construction of two outward-facing buildings, which attach to the existing space for new retail and restaurants. The site work involved demolition of the Sears Auto Center and relocation of existing site utilities to allow for the construction of new buildings, hardscapes and landscaping.

In addition to the main scope, Graycor provided vertical transportation, including elevators and stairs, and MEP infrastructure.

The location of the Sears building at the center of the mall presented a major challenge on the project. To ensure access and uninterrupted operations, a temporary tunnel was constructed to route patrons through an outdoor covered canopy during construction.

The Graycor team worked closely with the owner to incorporate scope changes to the project upon execution of new tenant leases.
