Project Scope

NIPSCO awarded Graycor a project to complete mechanical and structural installations of activated carbon injection (ACI) systems at their Bailly and R.M. Schahfer generating stations in Chesterton and Wheatfield, Indiana, respectively.

Work included installing supports for Units 7 and 8 at Bailly and Units 14 and 15 at Schahfer, as well as installing at each site a pre-engineered electrical building and an ACI bulk storage silo, which required assembly and installation of a winding stairway, landing, roof platform and handrail.

Scope of work at the locations also included copper and HDPE (high density polyethylene) piping installation, as well as a pipe rack, support steel and PAC (pneumatic actuator control) manifold supports for the units.

The project was performed at both sites on time, within budget and with no safety incidences.
