Joining the Susan G. Komen challenge to fight breast cancer, Graycor Industrial’s project team constructing the Unit 1 SCR Project for American Electric Power (AEP) in Rockport, Indiana, will help raise $20,000 for the breast cancer charity.

A kickoff dinner was held in early May to launch the “Ride the Pink Elevator” campaign sponsored by AEP. In addition, a ribbon cutting ceremony took place at the project site to unveil the pink elevator that is serving to increase awareness while providing access for material and manpower during construction. The colorful construction elevator is accessible on the south end of Unit 1’s powerhouse retrofit work where the team is performing modifications to the steel and mechanical systems.

Graycor Industrial’s project team—led by Jerry Matheis, senior project manager—as well as various contractors and vendors will raise money over a six-week period.

Susan G. Komen—the world’s largest nonprofit source of funding for the fight against breast cancer—provides breast cancer education, screening and treatment to millions, and funds research to the whole world.
