Graycor Construction Company recently completed two significant projects in the cultural/educational space. In Chicago’s west loop, Graycor completed construction for Development Management Associates and Ignite Glass Studio on a world-class glass art studio, an education and event facility. The unique, multipurpose space spans 15,000 square feet and includes a glassblowing studio for working artists and interested students of all ages, a 5,700-square-foot events venue interactive with the studio, an outdoor garden, a rooftop deck and a conference/meeting room. The project required significant utility work given its new use and required the placement and installation of six glass furnaces. The facility was designed by Epstein.

Nitti Graycor, a division of Graycor Construction Company, completed work at the Thunderbird School of Global Management, the #1 ranked International Business School in the U.S. The school needed to renovate the existing Najafi Global Mindset Institute building into a state-of-the-art learning center to accommodate ever changing educational demands. Nitti Graycor worked with Deutsch Architecture Group to renovate and expand the lecture halls, research rooms and faculty office space. The facility is equipped with the latest technology and houses capabilities for conducting collaborative classes, lectures and international forums with students located around the globe. This project was completed while students were on campus and attending classes. Continual coordination with the college and security staff ensured public safety, site security and work progress while keeping interruption to the college’s activities to a minimum.

These two projects add to Graycor’s extensive resume of cultural/educational work which includes projects completed for clients such as the Joffrey Ballet, the University of Chicago, the Museum of Science & Industry and the Steppenwolf Theatre.
