Vehicle Assembly Plant Interior Build-Out and Construction
Graycor Construction completed construction for Toyota’s new vehicle assembly plant built on 1,700 acres in Blue Springs, Miss. (near Tupelo). The environmentally sensitive project, for which recycled materials were used in the construction, was completed by Graycor Harrell, a joint venture partnership between Graycor Construction Co. Inc and Jackson, Miss.-based Harrell Contracting Group, LLC.
The team, which initially completed foundations work on site, subsequently handled the 130,000-square-foot press, 190,000-square-foot ED weld and 210,000-square-foot paint buildings portion. The utilities zone project — which included construction of an 18,000-square-foot process utilities building and equipment placement — also recently reached completion. Additionally, the team performed an interior build-out of the plant’s cafeteria.
The project also included constructing a 40,000-square-foot shop/office foundations building.
The Blue Springs plant — Toyota’s eighth assembly plant built in the U.S. — is slated to produce the Corolla.
