Project Scope

Graycor was selected to give Westfield SouthPark – a super-regional mall located in the Cleveland suburb of Strongsville – a ‘facelift’ by adding 200,000 sq ft of retail space on two sides of the mall. Work involved constructing a 150,000-sq-ft, two-level addition on the north side of the mall, as well as building a single-story, 50,000-sq-ft addition on the south end. Extensive site work, demolition and pad preparation were also performed during the project.

Because the project’s duration spanned two holiday shopping seasons, Graycor phased the work to minimize disruption to shoppers and mall operations. As part of the project, Graycor also built out interior spaceon the mall’s second floor to make way for a new 14-screen, state-of-the-art Cinemark movie theatre. The overall expansion also includes a 50,000-sq-ft Dick’s Sporting Goods, restaurants and 25 new specialty shops. In addition, the mall’s existing design and layout were enhanced by featuring two drive-through portecochere entrances and a street-front exterior design with brick paving, landscaping and seating areas for informal gatherings and outdoor dining.

Graycor originally built the enclosed mall in 1996.
