Joffrey Ballet Mixed-Use Facility
Client:
The Joffrey Ballet
Architect/Engineer:
Booth Hansen Associates
Project scope:
Chicago–based Joffrey Ballet chose Graycor Construction to serve as the owner representative on a multimillion–dollar project to build a 45,000–square–foot, mixed–use facility – located in the heart of downtown Chicago – that will become the internationally renowned classical ballet company′s permanent home. The first two floors of the 33–story building –  named the Joffrey Tower –  consist of retail space, with the mezzanine, third and fourth floors, where the Joffrey Ballet resides, housing administrative offices and seven state–of–the-art rehearsal studios. Unique acoustical and structural amenities were required in the rehearsal studios to minimize sound transmission and vibration from the dance troupe. Condominiums are located on floors 9 through 32. The structure also features a green roof. The Joffrey′s new location adds to the city′s rich cultural district, which currently includes a world–class symphony, opera and theater community.
