Mall Renovation

Water Tower Place Renovation
Client:
Urban Retail Properties Co.
Architect/Engineer:
Wimberly Allison Tong & Goo
Project scope:
Urban Retail Properties Co. engaged Graycor for a major renovation of Water Tower Place, Chicago′s first vertical mall. The 700,000–square–foot mall was constructed in 1976 by Inland Construction Co., which Graycor acquired in 1982. The multimillion–dollar project — the mall′s first major renovation since being built — included expanding the Michigan Ave. lobby and storefront, installing stainless–steel cladding and 42–foot–tall light fixtures on the façade, and creating a new lobby water feature.
