Project Scope

Andeavor (formerly Tesoro) awarded Graycor a project as part of the Los Angeles Refinery Integration and Compliance (LARIC) modernization. Graycor’s work at the refinery marked a geographic expansion of its western footprint as well as its first time working for San Antonio, Texas-based Andeavor.

Graycor’s team mobilized to the Carson refinery and began work on the multimillion-dollar project which called for above-ground mechanical, piping, structural steel, demolition, electrical and instrumentation.

Graycor’s scope included mechanical work as well as self-performance of some of the structural steel erection.

The team worked in three areas throughout the refinery: Carson Light Hydro Unit (CLHU), Carson No. 51 Vacuum Unit and Dehex (CVAC).

Major subcontracted work included electrical, scaffolding, insulation, painting and fireproofing.

Andeavor plans to invest $460 million to connect, further integrate and upgrade the adjacent Carson and Wilmington facilities. The combined Los Angeles Refinery now runs more cleanly and efficiently.
