Project Scope

Chicago-based Kerasotes ShowPlace Theatres LLC chose Graycor to build new state-of-the-art multiplex theatres throughout Illinois and Indiana. The initial projects included completion of a 14-screen theatre in New Lenox, Ill., and a 12-screen theatre in Schererville, Ind., both in time for grand openings and the summer's movie releases. The theatres feature pre-cast exteriors and interior stadium seating with high-back chairs; wall-to-wall, curved screens; Dolby digital sound systems in each auditorium; state-of-the-art projection systems; and spacious and modern lobbies with open arcades and concession bars. The new 12-screen Schererville theatre now complements an existing 16-screen Kerasotes theatre.

Graycor also put final touches on Kerasotes ShowPlace 12 located at Westfield Southlake mall in Hobart, Ind. Just several months later, Graycor completed ground-up construction of two new theatres in Cicero and Niles, Ill. The Cicero 14-screen theatre located in the Hawthorne Works Shopping Center, is a 56,000-square-foot, free standing theatre with a total seating capacity of 2750. The theatre features stadium-style seating in each auditorium, with stepped seating rows and massive wall-to-wall screens with digital sound systems.

The theatre has since been sold to AMC.
