When Provena Mercy Center′s Family Birth Center underwent a 17,000–square– foot interior renovation, the center became the only facility with LDRP (labor- delivery-recovery-postpartum) suites in the Fox Valley area. Phase one of the two–phased modernization involved the creation of 10 LDRP suites and four fully equipped examination rooms for non–stress testing and fetal monitoring. Phase two involved construction of an additional three LDRPs, a prenatal/educational classroom and overnight-stay rooms. The LDRP suites look like home with furniture and entertainment centers equipped with televisions and stereo systems. In all, the center features 13 LDRP suites, a nursery, several sleep rooms, an operating room for cesarean births, four examination rooms, and a classroom for staff and patients.
