Project Scope

Graycor constructed a new Bass Pro Shop outdoor superstore in East Peoria, Illinois. The single story, riverfront store includes an adjoining Uncle Bucks Fish Bowl and Grill. Uncle Bucks is a themed resturant with a 12-lane bowling alley, billiards, private dining, bar and salt water aquarium.

Built on a on a pile foundation system, Graycor’s scope on the project began with concrete piers and footing. The store is about 145,000 square feet and takes up just more than 20 acres of the 35-acre site. 506 steel beams, driven 70 feet into the ground, were required to stabilize the structure, as it is constructed on sand and peat. The building is a structural steel building with metal decking, and exterior walls are metal studs sloped with shingles and reclaimed metal barn tin. To create Bass Pro Shops’ uniquely themed look, Graycor worked with materials equally unique such as timber structures and log wraps.

The water theme of the Uncle Bucks restaurant is carried into the 12-lane bowling alley. The bowling lane material is customized to Bass Pro Shops’ theme and includes the latest in score-keeping technology.

This superstore marks Graycor’s fifth project completed for Bass Pro Shops.
