Graycor completed construction of the new intensive care unit and rehabilitation/therapy department for Advocate Health Care’s South Suburban Hospital in Hazel Crest, Ill. The project, a joint venture with Gary, Ind.-based general contractor Powers & Sons, included construction of a new two-story, 55,000-square-foot steel and concrete building, as well as a basement attached to the main hospital.

The new three-level wing holds 20 ICU rooms as well as a rehabilitation and physical/occupational therapy department. In addition, the wing houses new equipment and design standards. Work on the project also included construction of a new loading dock and parking facility. Unique to this project is the new additions’rooftop healing garden, designed to provide a relaxing view for patients and their families.
