Oldendorf was chosen from ASA Chicago’s pool of over 400 subcontractors, material suppliers, and associate members in the six-county Chicago metropolitan area. ASA Chicago provides information and education on business issues affecting its affiliated members.
“The outstanding project manager is a highly efficient professional manager who smoothly, skillfully and fairly coordinates and schedules the work of the various trades,” said Kay Anagnos, president, ASA Chicago. “Other criteria include being an astute planner who assures that the site is accessible and available for material deliveries, as well as being reliable and dependable, meeting commitments to subcontractors and suppliers,” she added.
“I am extremely honored that the subcontractors feel I have earned this award,” said Oldendorf, senior project manager, Graycor Construction. “It encourages me to continue to collaborate with our subcontractors and treat them with the respect and fairness they deserve.”
Oldendorf will be honored at ASA Chicago’s annual awards dinner to be held on May 7, 2009, at Eaglewood Resort in Itasca, Ill. Other notable awards will be presented in categories including: Outstanding General Contractor (GC), Outstanding Estimator, Outstanding General Superintendent, Outstanding Project, Outstanding GC Council Rep, Outstanding Subcontractor Member, Outstanding Vendor Member and Outstanding Professional Member.
“We are proud the association has chosen Steve for this honor,” said Dave McAllen, president, Graycor Construction Company. “His diligence and determination throughout his career at Graycor certainly exemplifies ASA’s criteria for an outstanding project manager.”
Oldendorf joined Graycor in 1996 as a member of its engineer training program and has held a variety of increasingly responsible positions within the company throughout his career. With nearly 15 years of construction industry experience, Oldendorf has been instrumental in successfully managing a number of multimillion-dollar commercial projects, including The Promenade Bolingbrook, a 1.1-million-square-foot, main street-style town center located in Bolingbrook, Ill. He earned a B.S. in industrial technology and an M.S. in industrial management from Northern Illinois University. Oldendorf is also a LEED-accredited professional.
