Graycor completes phase one of Camelback Inn remodel.

JW Marriott Resort & Spa in Scottsdale, Ariz., keeps its character in renovation.

HOMEWOOD, IL (October 2008) — Graycor Construction Company Inc. (Graycor Construction), a subsidiary of the Graycor family of companies, has completed the ballroom rebuild at Camelback Inn, a JW Marriott Resort & Spa in Scottsdale, Ariz., and is scheduled to complete the rebuild/remodel of the main lodge in September 2008.

Reported to be one of Mr. Marriott’s favorite resorts, Camelback sits on a 100-plus acre site featuring 36 holes of championship Arizona golf, a signature spa and lavish meeting space for conferences and events.

Graycor Construction demolished the existing 15,000-square-foot ballroom and built a new 40,000-square-foot ballroom. The room features a 26-foot ceiling with valence-hung lighting and divides into 14 individual rooms. It is equipped with a full banquet kitchen facility. The project boasts high-end finishes, flagstone entryways, mahogany wood doors and wainscoting.

Graycor Construction recently completed work on “The Lodge,” a 1917 adobe mud brick building that houses registration, retail space, two restaurants with fully equipped remodeled kitchens and spa facilities. Graycor Construction saved much of the original structure, including the main living room that is the focal point of the project. The remodel includes a new Starbucks coffee shop, a 60,000-square-foot patio area featuring an engineered creek running through the site, four fire pits, an out/indoor bar and a BLT restaurant; the new bistro concept from Executive Chef Laurent Tourondel.

Elegant style is evident in the new BLT Restaurant including mahogany floors, walnut bars and booths, special finishes on the ceiling, and a very high-end kitchen.

The remodel also includes a new office space on the second floor above the restaurant, two additional bar areas and a second-floor conference room.

Graycor Construction attributes its growing presence in the Southwestern United States to its longstanding relationships with clients over many decades leading to an increase in demand for additional project work in the Southwest. “We opened the Phoenix office in response to our clients’ needs in the Southwest region,” says Roger Sautter, area manager/operations for Graycor Construction. “We have completed many successful projects in the region with plans for future expansion.”

The Phoenix office has experienced success in projects ranging from banks to lifestyle centers, and maintains relationships with Crate and Barrel, Chase, Marriott, Armstrong Developers, CVS/pharmacy, Sunrise Assisted Living, Toyota, and others.

“Graycor Construction helped us step up a notch in both safety and quality,” says Jay Graef, of Graef Construction, a site utility contractor in Arizona currently working on their second project with Graycor Construction in the region. “We find Graycor Construction to be much more organized, understanding and respectful of their subcontractors.”
