Homewood, IL - September 17, 2010 -- Melvin Gray, Chairman and CEO of the Graycor Companies (Graycor), announced today that as part of a strategy to upgrade its Chicago area facilities, the organization has executed a lease at Two Mid America Plaza in Oakbrook Terrace, Ill. and expects to make a decision soon regarding one of two Northwest Indiana locations for a new facility there. The new Oakbrook Terrace location, leased from KBS Realty, will provide office space on two floors, while the Northwest Indiana location will offer 44,000 sq. feet of office and operations support on approximately 10 acres. Occupancy of both facilities is expected in the first half of 2011.
Consistently ranked one of Chicago's largest privately held companies, Graycor has evolved from its founding in 1921 as a maintenance and demolition contractor to a fully integrated provider of construction, maintenance and related services, working across the U.S. and internationally for a broad range of clients in various industries. Designed by Chicago-based architectural firm Gensler, the Class A office build-out in Oakbrook Terrace, scheduled to commence in the fourth quarter of 2010, will feature a state-of-the-art workspace, including updated technology and workstations, as well as numerous sustainable elements, such as a 3,000-sq.-ft. landscaped outdoor terrace. "One of the reasons we were drawn to Oakbrook Terrace and Northwest Indiana is their proximity to key resources and business partners as our services continue to broaden in scope and geography," Gray said. "We appreciate being warmly welcomed by the communities and are excited about the new locations, which will facilitate improvements in the quality and efficiency of our services," Gray added.
The Oakbrook Terrace site provides opportunity for future expansion within the building to accommodate a growing workforce. The Northwest Indiana location has been narrowed down to two sites: one in Hobart, Ind. controlled by Becknell Development and one in Portage, Ind. controlled by Holladay Properties. A decision on the new Northwest Indiana location is expected soon.
Kyle Kamin of Los Angeles-based real estate brokerage firm CB Richard Ellis (CBRE) has represented Graycor in searching for both offices, working with Gary Fazzio of CBRE on the west suburban component and Jay Pouzar and George Maragos on the Northwest Indiana component.
