Graycor recently completed repairs designed to improve the quality of air emitted from ISG Steel's BOF (Basic Oxygen Furnace) at the Indiana Harbor Works in East Chicago, Ind. The project called for replacing chamber Nos. 3 and 4 collection plates and discharge electrodes on the BOF precipitator as well as installing electrical equipment. Each chamber was taken out of service temporarily while the rebuild was performed.
Graycor has provided construction services for ISG since 1982. Most recently, Graycor completed an upgrade to the 84-inch hot strip mill No. 2 reheat furnace. Work included replacing charging table girders and recuperator boxes in addition to modifying equipment.
