Graycor Industrial Constructors Inc recently completed the first major phase of the multi-phased construction of a new melt shop for Wheeling-Pittsburgh Steel Corp. at its Steubenville South Plant in Steubenville, Ohio. Work included furnishing and installing a new pipe bridge that runs from the baghouse area to the existing basic oxygen furnace building.
In January, Graycor Industrial crews began installing a fume collection system as the second phase of the same melt shop project. Work on the fume collection system, scheduled for October completion, involves installation of a baghouse, dust silo, duct and roof canopy. Graycor crews are also responsible for piling and foundations for the new baghouse, in addition to structural, electrical, piping, siding, lead abatement and painting. R.T. Patterson Co. Inc. of Pittsburgh, Pa., is providing engineering services for the project.
The next phase in the process of constructing the new melt shop is equipment setting for the Electric Arc Furnace, LMF and Consteel Conveyor System.
Past projects completed for Wheeling Pittsburgh by Graycor Industrial include repairs to the No. 4 Reheat Furnace at the steelmaker's Mingo Junction, Ohio, plant, and equipment setting at the 80-inch Hot Strip Mill in Wheeling, W.Va.
