Graycor Industrial Constructors recently began an environmental retrofit project for AmerenEnergy Resources Generating Co. at the Duck Creek power station, a 400-megawatt coal-fired generation facility, located in Canton, Ill. The project includes replacing an existing flue gas desulfurization (FGD) system with a wet flue gas desulfurization (WFGD). The new scrubber system will more efficiently remove, or “scrub,” sulfur dioxide from the flue gas emissions. The retrofit project also includes installation of an eight-cell, electrostatic precipitator and associated foundations and equipment.
