Reliant Energy contracted GSSL Joint Venture - a joint venture between Graycor, Sachs Electric Co. and Sargent & Lundy LLC - for the design-build construction of an 870-megawatt, simple-cycle peaker power plant in Aurora, Ill. Work included installation of 10 combustion turbines, as well as site work and civil construction. The facility produces 870 megawatts of electricity during peak power usage, particularly in the summer when demands are high.
