Graycor Construction recently completed St. Alexius' health care facility's new 23,400-square-foot emergency department addition. With the new facility, St. Alexius will double its current emergency department treatment capabilities to more than 50,000 patients yearly.
Phase I of the three-phased project included construction of approximately 14,000 square feet of new building space for 23 exam areas, three nurse stations, two triage rooms and a registration and a waiting area. Phase II consisted of approximately 8,300 square feet of renovation work. Phase III is currently under way.
As part of St. Alexius' overall expansion program, Graycor also constructed an 11,200-square-foot build-out of the west wing's sixth floor and performed a multimillion-dollar site work project. Recently completed projects for the expansion include renovating an LDR office and constructing a new special procedures/catheterization laboratory. Also underway is expansion of Alexian Brothers Behavioral Health Hospital in Hoffman Estates, which includes the construction of a three-story, 26,767-square-foot addition to its existing behaviorial health hospital.
